Canon EOS Rebel T6 18-55mm DSLR Kit

Trust Issues

We can sell this for less than other retailers because we don’t follow Canon’s MAP (Minimum Advertised Pricing), as we explained last time. We can do that because we’re not a Canon “Authorized Dealer.”

OK — cool, you’re saying, I can get cheaper Canon cameras from non-authorized sellers. Got it.

Well, hang on. Near the Scylla of paying full MAP lies the dangerous Charybdis of buying from a disreputable online retailer. Some would call them “scammers.” They’ll sell you a camera like this one for cheap but have several tricks up their sleeves, including semi-mandatory add-ons, dicey warranties, and the oldest trick in the e-retail scam book: Not sending you the thing you ordered.

Wait a second, those of you visiting this site for the first time are saying, You’re warning about other scams, but how can we trust you?

We applaud your skepticism. One way to check our reputation is to ask around in the forum from people who have purchased from us in the past. We’re not perfect, and we’ve surely bungled some orders in our time, but we think you’ll find our customers generally trust us.

Another way to determine the trustworthiness of our site (or any site) is to search our domain name with the word “scam.” You can try this with notorious retail mountebank Abe’s Of Maine (based in New Jersey) to see some prime examples of red flags.

If you’re looking to buy a well-reviewed entry-level DSLR and trust our bona fides, you’ve landed on a great deal. If you absolutely refuse to give your credit card information to a website not named after a large South American river, we understand, and won’t hold it against you. If you’re not interested in buying a fancy camera and don’t care about MAP pricing or anything else we’re talking about, why have you read this far?
