With a slight chill in the air, I strolled down the sidewalk. It was Spring and the famous Japanese cherry blossoms were at their peak. The 3,000 trees, a gift from Japan to the city of Washington, D.C. in 1912, had flourished. The Cherry Blossom Festival was now an annual event drawing people from around the globe, myself included. The vigorous aroma of the blossoms, bitter, yet sweet and pure, enveloped me. The delicate petals fell like light snow and danced on the breeze. That’s when I saw her. That’s where my story ends, and OUR story begins. The life of a cherry blossom is sadly, very short. Their beauty peaks around two weeks and the light pink and white blossoms start to fall. They are a symbolic flower of spring, renewal, and the fleeting nature of life.
Cherry blossoms serve to remind us of the beauty of life and how precious that life is. The sweet scent of life inspired the Cherry Blossom Fest Collection.
