There’s a reason people spend crazy money on wireless earbuds.
It’s because they are fantastic. They’re absolutely liberating and if you ever have to go back to the old-fashioned way you will feel every bit as tethered down as if you had to go back to a corded phone.
Headphone cords are going to be one of those things that kids in the 2050s won’t believe that people in the 2010s had to deal with. And you, kicking it here in the 2020s, definitely don’t have to deal with them.
Have you ever been wearing wired headphones and got them caught on something? Did you want to kick a baby and maybe ransack a village for a second or two? Because that reaction is something known as “completely understandable” because having your stupid wired earbud yanked unceremoniously out of your ear is as annoying and disorienting as if you somehow combined a dropped phone call with trying to plug in a USB cord upside down and missing the bottom step of a flight of stairs.
It’s like hitting your funny bone while backing into a parked car. It’s like not just dropping your phone, but also kicking it across the room as you take your next step.
It sucks is what we’re saying.
What doesn’t suck is having the ability to jump from your music to your podcast to a phone call to quietly avoiding your family without missing a beat. And being able to move around your house untethered to your phone? That also firmly does not suck.
You have no idea how nice it’ll be to cut one of the few remaining cords in your digital life. Plus right now, you can do it for under thirty bucks…and that’s for earbuds from JBL, speaking of things that don’t suck.
Today’s the day. It’s definitely time to go wireless.
