The Masks You Are Looking For
You might’ve noticed in the last two years that there are two types of masks out there in all the articles and stories and retailers. You might’ve also noticed that their names are really similar. N95 and KN95. You might’ve even bought one type a while ago thinking it was the other because of those names.
Here’s the thing: masks labeled N95 and KN95 can often be of similar quality and made in the same factories. And, what makes a mask N95 or KN95 actually has nothing to do with their qualities respective to each other.
What makes a mask N95 or KN95 is solely based on who approved it, the US government or the Chinese government respectively. The standards they are judged on are nearly identical in the most important categories.
Should you favor one mask over the other? That’s entirely up to you. The important thing here is that now we’ve had both options available from us, so whether it’s N95 or KN95, we’ve got you(r face) covered.
