You might think that robes make an unoriginal, uninspired gift. And you’d be right. But robes are a clichéd gift the same way that jelly is a clichéd addition to peanut butter.
They’re clichéd because they work.

Indeed, the real reason robes make such good gifts is because, at their core, they are utterly self-serving. Sure, the recipient will enjoy snuggling in their warm fleecy robes or whatever, but you the giver will reap much richer rewards.
For example, bathrobes — like sheets — are often used far beyond their useful lives. “It’s still totally fine,” your cohabitator will say of their greasy, pilled, once-white robe. But they don’t have to look at it — you do. And giving them a new robe all but guarantees that they throw out (or at least retire) their squalid vestments.
Most importantly, if your spouse is of the masculine persuasion and enjoys strutting nude about the house, this robe will (hopefully) help remedy this habit.
