Don’t let the name fool you, the actual massager’s not as complicated as it makes it sound. It’s pretty simple, really.
Say you have a lot of tension in your right shoulder, so much so that it hurts to move. Chances are there’s a knot or several somewhere in that shoulder that just won’t go away. You could try to massage it out yourself with your hand, but that never quite seems to be as effective as having someone else do it. 9 times out of 10 people probably would ask someone else to do it for that reason. You don’t always have access to that extra pair of hands, though, and your muscles aren’t going to wait until you do to start hurting.
A percussion massager is a tool that provides rapid, short pulses that relax and soften muscle tissue. Most of them take the form of a “massage gun,” named as such because of the way they are held. Simply apply the head of the massager to the sore area, turn it on, and let it do its thing. Your muscles will thank you for it.
