When Cords Were Cool
Kids these days have it easy with cordless everything. They’ll never know what it’s like to sit in one place for an entire phone call because the phone is mounted to the wall, or get tangled in the strings trying to open the window blinds. They’ll never know the feeling of listening to a Debbie Gibson cassette through flimsy foam earphones on the school bus. I know I’m dating myself here, but I wouldn’t trade my Walkman for anything back in the day.
But I did, we all did. We got iPods and earbuds and smartphones. No one even knows what to do with a cassette anymore and we hardly ever use anything with cords, unless we need to charge one of our devices—and even that technology is changing with wireless charging pads. Sure, cords used to be cool, but I love the freedom I have now, especially when it comes to my true wireless earbuds. They allow me to listen to my music, my podcasts, and my audio books whenever and wherever I want. They even work great for phone calls and meetings. This set doesn’t set you back much, so it’s a good opportunity to lose the cords for a little while and see how you like it.
