Get With The Times
For years, we’ve had to deal with different computers and phones and tablets all needing different cables. Mostly it’s been because Apple couldn’t decide on one and seemed to refuse to consider more conventional USB options. This is in all likelihood due how much they could make off their devices needing cords of their own design.
The good news is they’ve dialed that back to some degree. Modern MacBook Air models no longer use the old MagSafe chargers (those flimsy cords with the magnetic end that lights up), instead opting for USB-C (currently the standard for everyone else).
Unfortunately, they did away with all of the old USB A ports (the chunky ones we know and love). Meaning, if you want to charge your phone from the computer, you’ll need, well, something like this.
And in general, since USB C has become so common, it might be good for iPhone and iPad users to grab some of these. If you want to keep using the old USB A to Lightning adapters, you might want to grab some of these as well.
